The Early Childhood Workforce Connector (ECWC), previously funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, now operates under TriMetrix as a fee-for-service initiative supporting the development and expansion of early childhood Registered Apprenticeship (RA), Youth Apprenticeship, and pre-apprenticeship programs.

Challenge

As a new initiative supporting early childhood apprenticeship programs, ECWC needed to clearly articulate its role in the field and reach the employers, partners, and stakeholders who could benefit from its services. It required foundational communications and resources to introduce its work, build awareness, and support engagement with national and state-level audiences.

Solution

We supported ECWC by developing the core communications tools and strategies needed to launch and grow the initiative. This included developing a brand, creating resources that explained its services, establishing outreach channels, producing materials to support partner engagement, and ensuring all content met accessibility standards.

Results

ECWC has the structure, tools, and strategies needed to effectively engage early childhood employers, leaders, and partners. With clear messaging, consistent outreach, and accessible resources, the initiative increased visibility, strengthened stakeholder understanding, and grew its audience significantly across multiple platforms.

Branding

To establish a strong and recognizable brand identity, we developed ECWC’s logo, graphic elements, and accessible color schemes. Our designers created a comprehensive brand book and customized templates to ensure a consistent look across all resources. This identity positioned ECWC as a credible partner and streamlined future content development.

Communications Strategy

To guide outreach and communication efforts as the initiative grew, we developed a strategic communications plan that identified effective channels for outreach and provided clear guidance on messaging to help ECWC speak in a unified voice. The plan is updated annually to reflect ECWC’s growth and evolving goals.

Resource Development

To equip early childhood audiences with clear information about ECWC’s services, we developed a variety of engaging resources, including videos, flyers, presentation decks, and infographics. These resources supported deeper engagement with stakeholders and helped drive inbound traffic to the ECWC website.

Social Media and Newsletters

To stay connected with ECWC’s diverse audiences, we developed messaging, content calendars, and templates for its social media channels and bimonthly e-newsletter. This led to significant audience growth, including more than 2,300 new LinkedIn followers and over 1,000 email subscribers within two years.

Website Accessibility

To ensure ECWC’s website met accessibility standards ahead of launch, we conducted comprehensive Section 508 compliance audits. This included detailed evaluations against WCAG 2.1 AA standards and current best practices. As a result, ECWC achieved a high standard of digital accessibility, improving usability for all users.
