Through the TriMetrix Cares Ambassador program, TriMetrix employees are encouraged to spend one paid eight-hour workday every six months volunteering for a nonprofit they care about.
Last month, Kara Lehnhardt, Senior Advisor for Corporate Communications and Culture, volunteered at the UpScale Rummage Sale in Libertyville, IL. The nonprofit resale store collects and sells gently used donated treasures from the community. Proceeds from sales are used to support nonprofits across Lake and Cook counties, including those serving individuals experiencing homelessness, animal rescues, hospitals, and schools.
For this event, Kara volunteered on behalf of AAUW Preschool, a 70-year-old early learning nonprofit serving local children and families. Through a partnership with UpScale Rummage, the school will receive a grant in exchange for volunteer hours contributed by Kara and others.
Over two mornings in the organization’s 10,000+ square foot warehouse, Kara helped sort, organize, and price donated items. “Treasures were everywhere!” Kara shared. “Most merrily were several hours spent in the store’s Christmas Room.”
Further, Kara found joy in being a part of the cheerful group of volunteers whose work serves so many in her community. Kara is grateful to UpScale Rummage Sale and to TriMetrix for the opportunity to give back and be part of such meaningful work.
