The National Center on Subsidy Innovation and Accountability, a project of the Office of Child Care (OCC) and TriMetrix subsidiary WRMA, sought the Learning and Resource Center’s (LRC) expertise to develop a comprehensive style guide and Microsoft Office templates. The style guide and templates are updated on an ongoing basis to be responsive to the needs of subject matter experts.

LRC’s copy editors developed the style guide for NCSIA based on the Department of Heath and Human Services (HHS) and the Administration on Children and Families (ACF) style guides and OCC preferences. In addition, the NCSIA style guide includes links to resources that support inclusion in written products.

The LRC also provided NCSIA with multiple, flexible Word and PowerPoint templates. The templates incorporate commonly used features, such as branding or font/color requirements, graphical elements, multiple slide variations, and headers/footers.

Additionally, we developed the templates with accessibility in mind to ensure 508 compliance considerations were built into the file. This included setting up a robust set of styles from which authors and designers can work. It also included adding appropriate metadata and alt text. These upfront actions on the templates now reduce the remediation time required for our 508 compliance specialists to ensure NCSIA’s content is fully accessible to users with disabilities.
